Temple Dance
by Glenda Higgins

Temple by the sea
Built to sing the songs
Of ancient times now gone
Under the night canopy

Glowing emerald city
Silent birds passing by
White wings against the sky
Darkness of the winter night

Pinpoints in the innocence
Fingering the inner sense
Of fading orange hues
Amid the noble blues

Rising low-pitched giggles
Of silly, slapping waves
On ticklish rock toes
Daring not to laugh out loud

Crescent moon with smiling lips
Kissing forgotten fire
Slender silver wisp of light
Behind the ancient tower
